Stacked rectangles in ivory, cream and warm greige form the quiet structure of this abstract painting. Deeper blocks of charcoal and mushroom brown give it weight, and a slim vertical stroke of muted ochre near the center adds a welcome note of warmth. The shapes shift and overlap rather than locking into a strict grid, so the arrangement reads more like an old facade than a diagram.
The surface carries real texture. Palette-knife marks, layered pigment and worn, plaster-like passages recall weathered stone and aged walls, and they catch changing highlights as daylight moves across the room. The wide horizontal format suits the space above a sofa, bed, sideboard or fireplace, and the restrained palette sits comfortably beside oak, walnut, travertine, linen and boucle.
