A shade of fine silk is drawn taut over a slender iron frame, so the fabric reads as one soft, unbroken shape with no hard lines crossing it. The silk carries a gentle sheen and diffuses light evenly, giving a quiet glow without a bright hot spot, while light also spills downward onto the surface below.
The shade picks up the color of the bulb inside it, so a warm white source matters here. At 2700K the silk turns a creamy, lantern-like white; cooler bulbs tend to make it look flat and bluish. Treat it as ambient light for a calm room, and add task lighting if it hangs over a desk or kitchen island.
