Deep ocean blue and soft blue-gray drift across this hand-painted canvas until they meet a broad field of ivory, stone gray and sandy neutrals. Where the two areas touch, pale blue and white passages read like water washing over a weathered shoreline, as if you were looking down on the coast from above.
Heavy palette-knife work leaves raised ridges and sweeping marks across the surface. The blue sections feel fluid, while the pale areas take on a carved, stone-like quality, and side light picks out shifting highlights and shadows through the day. The restrained palette sits comfortably beside cream upholstery, walnut, travertine, linen and other natural materials.
