This vertical canvas looks down on the place where water meets sand. Sage and pale gray-green water fills the upper field, and thin lines of white foam gather and widen as they near a light shore. Nothing else is in the frame: no horizon, no boats, no figures. The image is a quiet study of a wave arriving and pulling back.
The piece is painted by hand, and the foam is built up in raised paint with irregular edges that catch side light. The palette leaves out ocean blue entirely. Sage, pale olive, ivory, soft cream and warm white keep it calm and neutral, so it sits easily with natural wood, linen and stone, and in Japandi, organic modern or modern coastal rooms. Because each canvas is made by hand, the texture and brushwork will vary slightly from the image, while the composition and colors stay true.
