Description

A long, low chandelier where fluted lanterns of unglazed biscuit ceramic sit along a frame of solid copper bar. Because the clay is left matte and raw, it takes on the color of the lamp inside, and the deep vertical fluting breaks the glow into bands of light and shade across the ceramic surface.

The heavy-gauge copper carries a rubbed patina that has been sealed to hold its depth, and the fixture has real heft. The light is soft and textured, gathered at table height instead of washing the whole room, so over a kitchen island or a reading spot it works best with separate task lighting nearby. Warm 2700K lamps bring out a mellow biscuit tone in the clay that pairs well with the copper. Cooler light tends to leave the ceramic looking gray and dull.

Details

  • Materials: fluted, unglazed biscuit ceramic lanterns on a solid copper bar frame
  • Finish: rubbed copper patina, sealed
  • Length: 94 cm (37")
  • Depth: 23 cm (9")
  • Suspension: rigid copper stem, 50 cm (19.7") standard, adjustable in length to suit ceiling height
  • Lamping: two E26 or E27 bulbs, warm white LED at 2700K recommended
  • Installation: hardwired; because of the weight, secure it to a ceiling joist or reinforced blocking with the help of an electrician
  • Sizing: suits a rectangular or oval dining table of roughly 150 to 190 cm (59 to 75") or a kitchen table; center it along the table and set the lantern bottoms 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35") above the tabletop

Care

Turn the fixture off and give the bulbs time to cool before cleaning. The ceramic is porous, so dust it only with a dry, soft brush or cloth and keep moisture and cleaning products off it. For the copper, a soft dry cloth is enough. Skip metal polish, since it would remove the sealed patina.

Up to 3-Year Warranty: 18 months on upholstered pieces, 3 years on solid wood and rugs. Please review our warranty policy for full details on coverage and claims.
