A deep field of umber and espresso brown sets the tone for this textured geometric painting. Near the center, a warm ivory panel rises from the dark ground, its surface built from rows of raised blocks, each formed by hand. Beneath it, a fine off-white grid repeats the pattern in a lighter, more open register.
The two structures play against each other: one dense and tactile, the other airy and architectural. No two blocks are quite the same, and the small irregularities in their edges and surfaces give the piece its wabi-sabi character. From across a room it reads as bold and graphic. Up close, side light brings out the relief and the worked texture of the brown ground. The earthy palette sits comfortably with wood, linen, stone and pared-back modern furniture in Japandi, organic-modern or warm minimalist rooms.
