Layer upon layer of natural selenite crystals hang from a solid brass frame in this tiered chandelier, hundreds of hand-cleaved pieces gathered into a cascading form. Because selenite is cleaved along its fibrous grain rather than cut, each edge is irregular, and light travels through the stone to give off a soft, diffused glow much like moonlight. The natural variation means every fixture turns out a little different.
The medium size sits well over a round dining table seating six to eight, or in a primary bedroom. The large size is scaled for a table of ten or a double-height living room. When hanging over a table, plan for the lowest crystal to sit 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35") above the surface.
