This pair of tall vertical canvases reads like a narrow channel of still water seen from above, glowing silver between deep black walls. On each panel a bright strip of reflected light runs the full height, broken by ripples and raised flecks that catch the light like wet stone or drifting debris on the surface. The palette stays almost entirely in black, charcoal and pale gray, which gives the set a quiet, nocturnal mood.
The texture is the heart of the piece. Thick, raised marks sit across the reflective areas in short horizontal strokes, so the surface shifts as you walk past and the light changes.
