A single folded form runs down the length of this vertical relief, rising from a warm, earthy ground the way heavy cloth gathers and settles. The ridges and hollows are dimensional, so they pick up light and throw shadow, and the piece reads differently from morning to evening. Viewed straight on it feels soft and fluid. From the side it looks more structured, almost architectural.
The palette stays close to one family of tones: taupe, camel, sand, clay and a warm greige. With so little color contrast, the eye goes to the shape and surface. The background has the quiet, uneven texture of old plaster or packed earth. Because every piece is worked by hand, expect slight differences in the folds, surface marks and depth of relief from one to the next.
