A woman's profile rises in deep black against a field of soft abstract color, her hair swept up into a high bun and a looped gold earring catching the light at her ear. Fine flecks of white spatter across the dark figure like scattered stars, and thin ochre lines trace the curve of her hair and shoulder.
Around her, thick raised strokes of cream outline the silhouette, while blush pink, dusty rose, slate blue, warm gray and touches of amber drip and dab across the background. The heavy, sculpted texture gives the surface real depth, and the contrast between the quiet figure and the lively backdrop makes the painting feel calm yet full of energy.
