A deep cognac glass shade, the warm brown-amber of an old spirit held to the light, hangs from a polished solid brass frame. The brass fittings give the tinted glass a gold edge and a sense of weight. It pairs naturally with walnut, leather, dark green and other brass accents.
Five shapes are offered, and they are designed to be mixed. One shade works over a console, bar or small bedside. Over a kitchen island, a row of two to four spaced roughly 60 to 80 cm (24 to 31") apart reads well. Over a dining table, a cluster of three to five in varied shapes gives a collected look. Set the bottom of each shade about 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35") above the surface.
The glass gives off a soft amber glow, while more light falls through the open base onto the table or counter. It is an evening light, so pair it with task lighting over a working island. Use a 2700K warm white bulb: cooler light makes the cognac tint look dull and brown, while warm light lets it glow.
