    1.3 Required Maintenance (Detailed)

Strict adherence to these maintenance guidelines is mandatory to ensure the longevity of your indoor furniture and to keep your warranty valid. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the voiding of your warranty.

    • Regular Cleaning

      • Weekly Vacuuming: Vacuum upholstery weekly using a soft brush attachment to remove dust, crumbs, and pet hair. This prevents the accumulation of dirt that can abrade fabric fibers over time.

      • Dusting Wood Surfaces: Dust wood surfaces regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth, immediately followed by a dry cloth to prevent moisture absorption.

    • Spill Management

      • Immediate Blotting: In case of spills, immediately blot (do not rub) the affected area with a clean, dry, white cloth or paper towel. Work from the outside of the spill inwards to prevent spreading. For stubborn stains, consult a professional upholstery cleaner or use a mild, pH-neutral fabric cleaner specifically designed for furniture, testing on an inconspicuous area first. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.

    • Environmental Control:

      • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Position furniture away from direct, prolonged sunlight exposure, which can cause fabric fading, wood discoloration, and potential cracking or warping. Use curtains or blinds to protect furniture during peak sunlight hours.

      • Avoid Heat Sources: Do not place furniture directly near heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, air conditioning vents, or heating registers. Extreme heat can dry out wood, causing it to crack or warp, and can also degrade upholstery materials. Maintain a consistent room temperature and humidity level.

    • Cushion Care:

      • Rotate and Fluff Cushions: To ensure even wear and maintain cushion shape and resiliency, rotate and fluff reversible seat and back cushions monthly. This helps prevent permanent depressions and extends the life of the filling materials.

    • Handling and Movement:

      • Proper Lifting: When moving furniture, always lift it rather than dragging it across the floor. Dragging can damage legs, frames, and flooring. If necessary, use furniture glides or seek assistance.

      • Avoid Improper Use: Do not sit or stand on the arms, backs, or frames of upholstered furniture. These areas are not designed to bear concentrated weight and can be damaged, leading to structural failure.

      • Weight Distribution: Ensure weight is evenly distributed when using furniture. Avoid placing excessively heavy items on specific points of wood surfaces without proper protection.

    • Regular Vacuuming:
    • Weekly Suction-Only: Vacuum your rug weekly using a suction-only vacuum cleaner. Do not use a vacuum cleaner with a rotating brush bar (beater bar), especially on delicate, high-pile, shag, or natural fiber rugs, as this can damage fibers, pull out threads, or cause excessive shedding.

    • Rotation:

      • Rotate Every 3–6 Months: Rotate your rug 180 degrees every three to six months. This helps to ensure even wear across the rug, particularly in high-traffic areas, and minimizes the impact of localized sun exposure.

    • Spill Management:

      • Immediate Cleaning: Clean spills immediately by blotting (do not rub) with a clean, dry, white cloth or paper towel. For liquid spills, blot from the outside of the spill inward.

      • Mild Detergent: For stubborn stains, use only a mild, pH-neutral detergent specifically designed for rugs, diluted according to instructions. Test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of the rug first to ensure colorfastness. Blot thoroughly with clean water to rinse, then blot dry. Avoid saturating the rug.

    • Professional Cleaning:

      • Avoid Harsh Methods: Do not use steam cleaning machines, industrial carpet cleaners, or harsh chemical detergents. These methods can damage rug fibers, backing, and dyes, potentially leading to shrinkage, fading, or delamination. For deep cleaning, consider professional rug cleaning services specializing in your rug's specific material.

    • Storage:

      • Store Flat or Rolled: When storing a rug, ensure it is clean and completely dry. Store it either flat or tightly rolled (pile side in) around a sturdy tube to prevent creases and damage. Never fold a rug, as this can create permanent creases. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and humidity.

      • Modified Products: Damage or issues arising from modifications, alterations, or repairs performed by anyone other than MFS authorized personnel.

    4.3 Maintenance (Detailed)

Strict adherence to these maintenance guidelines is mandatory to ensure the longevity of your indoor wood furniture and to keep your warranty valid. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the voiding of your warranty.

    • Regular Oiling/Coating Reapplication (if applicable)

      • For indoor wood furniture finished with a penetrating oil (e.g., Rubio Monocoat), reapply the recommended protective oil every four (4) to six (6) months, or as needed based on usage and appearance. This maintains the wood's protection and natural beauty. For sealed or lacquered finishes, follow manufacturer cleaning guidelines.

    • Environmental Control

      • Maintain Stable Humidity: Keep indoor wood furniture away from excessively humid environments (e.g., unventilated basements, bathrooms, or areas with constant moisture) or extremely dry conditions. Maintaining stable indoor humidity levels (ideally between 35-55%) minimizes wood expansion, contraction, and potential cracking. Ensure adequate ventilation around the furniture.

      • Avoid Direct Sunlight & Heat Sources: Position indoor wood furniture away from direct, prolonged sunlight exposure, which can cause finish fading, wood discoloration, and potential cracking. Also, avoid placing furniture directly near heat sources such as radiators, fireplaces, or heating vents, as extreme heat can dry out wood, leading to cracks or warping.

    • Cleaning

      • Wipe with Damp Cloth: Clean wood surfaces regularly with a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth. Immediately follow with a dry cloth to ensure the surface is completely dry. Never soak or wash wood furniture with excessive water, as this can cause swelling, warping, and finish damage.

      • Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaners, strong chemicals, silicone-based polishes, or harsh solvents on wood surfaces, as these can damage the finish and the wood itself.

    • Surface Protection

      • Use Coasters and Trivets: Always use coasters under drinks and trivets or placemats under hot dishes or objects to prevent water rings, heat marks, and scratches.

      • Avoid Direct Contact with Wet Items: Do not place potted plants directly on wood surfaces without proper drip trays or elevated stands to prevent water damage from spills or condensation.

      • Felt Pads: Place felt pads under the legs of furniture or decorative items to prevent scratching of wood floors or tabletops.

    5. LIMITED WARRANTY – OUTDOOR WOOD FURNITURE (3 YEARS)

This warranty covers solid wood furniture pieces designed and sold by MFS exclusively for outdoor residential use. This includes, but is not limited to: outdoor dining tables, lounge chairs, benches, and other solid wood items specifically treated and intended for exterior environments.

    • Coverage Period

      • The coverage period for outdoor wood furniture is three (3) years, commencing from the confirmed date of original purchase. This warranty is non-transferable and applies exclusively to the initial buyer. Valid proof of purchase, such as the original invoice or receipt, is required for all warranty claims.

    5.1 What is Covered (Detailed)

This warranty meticulously covers specific manufacturing and material defects under normal outdoor residential use and proper maintenance:

    • Structural Integrity

      • Splitting, Cracking, Warping (Workmanship): Covers significant splitting, cracking, or excessive warping of outdoor-treated solid wood components that impair the furniture's structural integrity or functionality, provided these issues are clearly due to poor workmanship, improper wood drying, or material defects at the time of manufacture. This excludes normal hairline cracks or "checks" that naturally occur in outdoor wood due to weathering, or damage caused by neglect (see 5.2).

      • Joint and Glue Failure: Covers the failure of glued joints or other structural connections, leading to loosening or separation of wood components under normal outdoor conditions, indicating a defect in the manufacturing process or adhesive application.

    • Finish Performance

      • Premature Deterioration of Protective Oil/Coating: Covers premature deterioration, severe peeling, or significant degradation of the factory-applied exterior protective oil or coating, provided that regular reapplication as per maintenance guidelines (see 5.3) has been diligently followed. This applies when the finish fails to perform its protective function significantly earlier than expected, indicating a manufacturing application defect.

5.2 What is NOT Covered (Detailed Disclaimer)

This warranty does not cover the following circumstances, conditions, or damages for outdoor wood furniture:

    • Environmental Neglect & Exposure

      • Water Stagnation & Chemicals: Damage caused by prolonged exposure to standing water, excessive moisture, high levels of salt spray (in coastal zones without proper rinsing), harsh chemicals (e.g., chlorine from pools without immediate rinsing), or abrasive cleaners.

      • Extreme Temperatures & UV: Damage from exposure to extreme heat, cold, or prolonged direct intense sunlight without adequate protection (e.g., covers, shade), which can accelerate normal weathering, fading, or minor surface changes.

      • Insect Infestations: Mold, mildew, or insect infestations (e.g., termites, wood borers) resulting from improper storage, lack of ventilation, or failure to follow recommended maintenance and pest prevention measures.

    • Natural Wood Characteristics & Weathering
